Guida, Slavich & Flores, P.C. was established in 1991 with the mission of providing businesses and individuals with high quality legal services centered on environmental law. From the start, we have been dedicated to assisting clients balance their business and environmental goals. When necessary, that dedication includes protecting client rights in state and federal courts.

Attorney Profiles

  • Joseph F. Guida, Managing Shareholder

    Mr. Guida, the founding principal of the firm, has practiced environmental law since 1979. He has a diversified, national environmental law practice covering air and water quality control, solid and hazardous waste management issues, toxic substances, and state and federal Superfund (CERCLA) matters. He has represented clients in a vast array of industrial and commercial settings.

  • John Slavich, Shareholder

    Mr. Slavich, a shareholder in the firm, has a diversified environmental law practice where he provides strategic advice to clients on a broad range of environmental issues, including the environmental aspects of real estate, corporate, and commercial transactions, remediation matters, brownfield redevelopment, risk management, compliance matters, and sustainability. He enjoys structuring deals that resolve issues at environmentally-impacted properties to get those properties back into productive use. His environmental practice is complemented by more than a decade of prior experience practicing corporate finance and commercial law.

  • Jean M. Flores, Shareholder

    Ms. Flores, a founding shareholder in the firm, has practiced exclusively environmental law since 1987. Ms. Flores has developed a diversified national environmental law practice covering air and water pollution control, and solid and hazardous waste management issues.  She routinely counsels and represents clients in a vast array of settings, including permitting, EPA and state regulatory enforcement actions, litigation, and has special focus on civil penalty analysis and reduction.  Ms. Flores has extensive experience in environmental issues associated with construction, start-up, and operation of industrial facilities.  She has defended numerous significant EPA enforcement actions under the Clean Air Act Risk Management Program and General Duty Clause, RCRA, as well as EPA and citizen suit actions under the Clean Water Act.  Ms. Flores regularly represents the petroleum refining industry and the construction industry in regulatory compliance and enforcement.  Ms. Flores is past Chair of the State Bar of Texas Environmental and Natural Resources Law Section, and past Chair of the Dallas Bar Association's Environmental Law Sections.
